The tubercles of the hind part of the pronotum are very small and the extension of the top of the head is shorter than the height of the scutellum. The costal areas of the fore wings are only 1mm wide. P. amarae
The species are then described
Green and white in colour. The antennae are ringed with black. The extension of the head is very finely split at the tip. The fore wings are longer than the abdomen and the costal areas are yellowish, the discoidal areas are opaque in the females but are more translucent in the males and are transparent in the last third in both sexes. There is a band near the base and 2 triangular spots against the yellow radial veins. There is a large eyespot formed by a large yellow circle with a green centre and a black point. The yellow circle is surrounded by 2 black spots and a crescent. The hind wings are transparent in the males and and lemon yellow in the females with a transparent hind edge. The abdominal segments have lobes at the sides. The front coxae are toothed. All of the femora have three green or brown bands.

This species is similar to P. ocellata and has much longer extensions to the clypeus and scutellum. The extension of the top of the head is more divided at the tip and the pronotum is wider than it is long. The yellow spots and eye spots of the fore wings are larger and the spines on the front coxae are stronger.

This species is very similar to P. wahlbergii but the tubercles on the back of the pronotum are much less defined. The extension of the top of the head is shorter than the height of the scutellum. The costal areas of the frore wings are only 1mm wide.
